Building the ARIVE Community: Operational Plan for Trainee Generation
ARIVE aims to engage and train 2,500 participants through structured virtual research education. This
ambition is supported by Deliverable 3.1 – Operational Plan for Trainee Generation and Delivery,
developed by the University of South-Eastern Norway (USN) within Work Package 3, coordinated by
Petre Shotadze Tbilisi Medical Academy (TMA).
The plan defines how participants will be recruited, trained, monitored and supported throughout ARIVE
activities. A key feature is the integration of the Virtual Research Semester (VRS) model into existing
university structures, where feasible, rather than treating it as a separate add-on activity.
ARIVE’s trainee generation approach combines institutional mobilisation, digital outreach, curriculum
integration and stakeholder engagement. It targets undergraduate, master’s and doctoral students, early-
career researchers, supervisors and mentors, ensuring that different groups can participate through
appropriate learning and support pathways.
The plan also establishes a shared responsibility model: consortium partners contribute to recruitment and
delivery through their institutional channels, while progress is monitored through participation data,
feedback, learning outcomes and partner reporting.
By combining structured recruitment, flexible delivery and continuous monitoring, ARIVE creates a solid
foundation for building an active international research learning community.
